About Us

Milestone Children’s Corner, a division of Milestone Development Inc., was founded in 2008.  We are a Christian based nonprofit organization governed by a board of directors.  We began as a small after school program on Drake Avenue serving only 25 children.  We have expanded to a new facility, and we are now licensed to provide service for 140 children.  Milestone is unique because we offer a sliding fee scale based on income, for qualifying parents, who work are attend school.  With help from grants and donations, we provide scholarships for tuition.  Enrollment consists of full paying clients, human service clients, homeless children, and children under protective services.

Milestone Development Inc. also serves through four additional programs:

Adopt-a-Family

The Adopt-a-Family program was designed to assist families with the rising cost of tuition.  With donations from generous donors, scholarships are provided for parents who simply can’t work and afford to pay childcare.  Welfare to work put many back to work, but for most, childcare is unaffordable.  Also, when salaries are raised from lower to medium, many are no longer eligible for childcare subsidy.  Parents are discouraged by this win/lose situation, and many give up.  Adopt a family today, and give a child hope for tomorrow.

T.E.A.M Kidz

3pm to 6pm is considered to be the most dangerous hours in America for children.  Many are in self care, or cared for by siblings who may be too young to provide reliable care.  For children in kindergarten through age 12, we provide afterschool care.  We offer homework help, internet access for research projects, mentoring, and enrichment programs, as well as transportation from school to the center.  Scholarships are provided for this program for parents who qualify.

Kids4Christ

This program was developed to teach children about the love of Christ.  For we all know that Jesus loves the little children and how grateful we are, that we’re all his children.  Each week a guest minister meets with a bible story featuring related arts and crafts and games.

Parent Power

Milestone collaborates with community agencies and colleges to provide on and off site services.  This program provides supportive services to parents and children including: early intervention, speech therapy, assessment, GED preparation site, job interview education, family computer room, and a resource library.
